Raising a teenager is hard…..
But being a teenager is hard, too.
Adolescence is a time of self – discovery and identity formation, when young people begin to establish a sense of who they are, what they believe in and where they fit in the world.
Helping teens build a powerful self- identity requires a multifaceted approach that includes self-reflection and positive relationships such as:

  • Giving an extra dose of attention and time- There shouldn’t be any judgments or punishments when teenagers share their problems as it will only help them share more with their parents.
  • Empathy- Understanding a teenage child’s perspective will not only help the parents to overcome the problems but also find a convenient solution that is acceptable to both the parents and teenagers.
  • Trust- Understanding the emotional turmoil of teenagers and letting them know that their parents constantly support them will help create the strongest bond between parents and their teenage children.
  • Making them understand without blaming them – We need to be very skilful while communicating with teenagers and we should make them understand with a lot of patience without blaming them.

By following these simple tips, parents can build a strong and supportive relationship with their teenagers and help them thrive.
