Pleasure of Reading Books

“A book is the only gift you can open again and again”

It is undeniable that a child’s reading skills are important to his/her success in school and need to be inculcated at a very early stage. Introducing the kids to a wide range of colourful story books is of paramount importance wherein they grow up in the mystic and imaginative world of kings, queens, fairies, goblins and elves.

Good books educate, enlighten and lead the readers in the right direction and truly there is no better companion than a good book.

Reading develops language skills and vocabulary and is an important way to relax and reduce stress. Reading a good book at least a few minutes each day stretches the brain muscles for healthy functioning.

Books play roles of a guide, a friend, a teacher and an empathizer. What starts as a fun time with picture books during the toddler years, can develop into a lifelong relationship where the journey of learning continues. A reader continuously experiences joy, wonder, mystery, thrill, adventure, happiness and sorrow. Books inspire creativity and introduce the reader to an enchanting world where every word has the power to make them better human beings.

It is rather difficult for young children to sit still for long and focus on regular reading. Little ones may initially squirm and become distracted during story time but eventually the colourful pictures and the touch of the enchanting pages attracts them to sit for a longer period.

Reading opens doors to a new world for a child as it helps in nurturing imagination and helps the child to dream bigger and act creatively. They learn to like and dislike the characters and distinguish between right and wrong as well as good and evil.

It is very aptly quoted that when you open a book you open an absolutely new world of knowledge, imagination and personal growth.
